In English we use the modal verb ‘may‘, to hypothesis, talk about a possibility or make polite requests.
In the first two instances it can be used interchangeably with ‘might‘ but should not be confused with the word ‘maybe‘, which is is an adverb meaning perhaps.
Now this may be a little confusing but maybe if you re-read it, it will become clearer.
